We all know cats love to play, especially kittens. With these tough economic times why not make your own cat toys or dog toys to save you the outlay by making most of what you probably have lying around your home.

One simple cat toy that is straight forward to make is the fishing cat toy, perfect to keep a new kitten happy, if you have or are about to buy a kitten for sale. To make this toy you will need a wire coat hanger, a plastic wire tie, a measuring tape, a pair of scissors, a pair of pliers and a string of wool.

Use the pliers to cut the bottom of the coat hanger about two inches along the bottom about two inches from the end. Then measure around 1.5 to 2 feet of wool, tie this onto the part you have just cut. At the other end you want to make a loop so you can attach the plastic tie to make the cat toy.
